The Margaret River Region has some of Australia’s best wine selection with many of the larger wineries selling interstate and internationally.
However, many visitors want to get off the beaten path and sample wines from smaller boutique and independent wineries. A visit to a boutique winery could include tasting a selection of new or traditional wines, a chance meeting with a wine maker or even some snacks and cheese platter.
Read on for some spectacular options located in the northern part of the region.
Stormflower Vineyard: An organic winery nestled between some of the Caves Road big players. Come for the wine, stay for the epic DIY charcuterie and cheese platters.
Marq Wines: Located on the main artery of the Yallingup sub-region, this Commonage Road cellar door boasts interesting varietals set in a calming bush backdrop.
Skigh Wine: Step back in time thanks to this cellar door’s eclectic 70s theme where you can select your favourite tunes on a turntable or wander outside to sip wine in the stunning gardens.
Windows Estate: Another certified organic winery where full bodied flavours are the name of the game. Located along Caves Road, this family-owned business named their blocks after the owner’s children.
Domaine Naturaliste: Picture yourself seated in front of floor to ceiling windows in the middle of a vineyard while tasting wines created by renowned local agronomist Bruce Dukes.
Hot tip: book a wine flight in advance and walk away with a complimentary bottle of rose for the road.
